well, its a day full of giving your time to your family... but anyways, i'd like to devote today on something general, which everyone sees, does and observes....
about the traffic sense prevailing in northern cities....
The himachali (and the other guys living uphill) dont like wasting their precious time on the road. however, i've noticed in them a kind of love for the road. for them, its prosperity to have a road... though there is no 'real' traffic uphill, these people like it being friendly with anyone on the road... and as you start descending from the hills, the attitude starts changing ...
punjab has a plethora of reactions ... while the rural guys love telling their tales of the day.. the ludhiana's and amritsar's are the ones which really lack traffic sense....... turban or not, you'll find attitude in the air... just try overtaking and you'll know the difference... you'll always see the other guy looking at you.. if you look back, his stare just widens and the face becomes like as if you're about to be cursed...... for the two-wheelers, people don't believe in headgear(some already have it in punjab) but cant live without a big pair of glasses and a hankerchief tied to cover the face (like a terrorist).... the bikes go so near the car you're travelling in that it may scare you to death if you're new to this.. while the bihari rickshawala's have their own story...
being in punjab has another problem .. the size of the cars .... the philosophy of bigger is better comes to test when the road is cluttered and they have to wait in queues... but thats what they have started liking.. staring at each other from their big cars ... and trying to show off their red-lights (on top of their cars)
come chandigarh, and no one is interested in you.. u'll seldom see stares.. people are sensible and have the requisite patience for the road .. but go further down, haryana likes it fast and zig-zag stuff ... talk about haryana bus drivers and this blog wont finish ...
go a little down and comes delhi ! the traffic paradise ... a person may pursue Phd on this traffic haven... though the general rule of the road here is to put your vehicle in any empty space possible.. even if there is a small opening, dont miss it.. keep on pushin the clutch and accelerator and going ahead .. you'll just do well ..
as you'd have noticed, the personality of people are visible from the road.... the uphill guys are friendly, straight and naive... punjab brings wannabe culture and fake attitude.. while delhi shows restless, insecure people having no time for themselves.... while chandi guys rock, happy and content ...
