the week that wasnt

Last sunday it seemed the week was going to be the most uneventful one of the semester. 2 teachers out of station, friday being declared another holiday and nothing much to do before 2nd sessionals, it seemed the week would be a similar one where slumber rules the roost, when there are days u just laze around at home rather than going to college because there's nothing much to do there, too.

To my misfortune, these werent those days. I just got the shock of my life called as 31st march.
why ? its closing time, so all accounts need to be maintained. why me? by mistake i was involved in pecfest finance work and accountability of 5 peti worth money was to be submitted. the whole week was consumed with this stupid work while the chandigarh weather kept arousing the desires to be out exploring nature. with cloud cover, cool winds and drizzles, it seemed a perfect place for dating at lake. wasnt to be.... or was it?

and yes, drizzles bring in wet roads and wet roads bring accidents. so that too was on the cards since long... and the friday thingy ?? no holidays there. in fact, more labour for us because it was techfest time and we had to organise 2 events, so thursday, friday and saturday got fully drowned in bullshit techfest stuff.

However, this techfest was my first experience of our college's techfest (never participated in 1st, 2nd or 3rd year, as i loved using the holiday). am pretty happy about the whole thing. though at a pretty small scale, the techfest was funn. ya .. compared with pecfest where so many things lead to doing nothing, techfest offers lesser (both in quality and quantity) but all the while, more fun. its more participative, where u know everyone. people are happy rather than sad or busy. they take interest in small details. All the while, u flaunt your knowledge and ridicule the organisers because of lack of planning. its really comic, rather than big teams coming up in pecfest and crowd craving for professional performances. its more cool to see people know less and the simplest design is still the best. particularly, my happiness was more by seeing the submarine design competition where decent gathering still came (which i dint expect).
however, the 31st thing has completely gripped my life. now techfest bills need to be submitted before 31st. thankfully, i am not the finance head this time.

why 'indian' is a different breed altogether

Its been an age old saying, indian's being referred to as "a completely different breed altogether". Even indians believe that, (SRK telling on national TV about it).
our breeding into adultage and psychology makes us different i.e. even in an enormous amount of pressure an indian cope up living his life. Our feelings are fickle, (or hypocratic to say the least). Things of utmost importance lose flavor and we do nothing to tackle it. yes, am talking about the mumbai blasts.

much anger erupted in those days, when suddenly everything seemed possible and everyone wanted to do something. everyone has his own view at the story, everyone has a topic to discuss. the discussions lead nowhere, with the concensus that you can't do anything, so the resentment decreases and we are back to square one. we can just forget the most disastrous things, if it didnt affect us directly.

learn from westerners ??? french just had a united march against the government and it was really united.. (75% people approving the cause). here, we'll prefer having another topic to discuss, (with the result, more or less known that we cant do anything) so 'mitti daalo yaar'.

and the best is we cant do anything about it. no 'jaagore' tv commercial or anything will motivate us take the harder way while we decide to live our own lives.. thats why we're a different breed altogether. for the more adventurous, they either become social outcasts, eccentric guys or are too confused about what to do that they prefer talking motivational bull-shit which no one else is ever gonna chew.

PS: gandhi too was an eccentric chap with his ideology, but he got every guy/girl to do what he wanted ... that time were we the different breed altogether ?? but, now, we'd prefer talking about it. or would we ?

3 things to a good night's sleep

In my endeavor to learn some good manners, i've come across a cool 3 thing formula to have a healthy, good night's sleep.
1)Clean up the room
2)Take a Bath
3)Read before sleeping
As obvious, All the things seem entirely difficult in my case. However, i've managed to abide it for 2 days out of 3, since i've started this stupid regime.

Considering the summers around the corner, i guess 2 should'nt be much of a problem with me. (Though i would reiterate, bathing once a day is a pain for people like me because of my personal mission against global warming, to reduce water pollution as less as possible.)
The first is not a difficult proposition either, just clear up the things you can see and create mess in the almirah or the store-room. That ways, you've cleaned up the room. right ??
and yes, the 3rd. reading sports page of a newspapers aint a bad proposition. (why read it in the morning ? lets defer it to the night)
as you can see, i hope to live up to my 'new' found resolution. amen.

reply to the candid conservative

The previous post (if you are reading this, STOP HERE UNLESS YOUVE READ THE PREVIOUS POST) has been amusing, to say the least. though there is certain amount of conviction in what you say, but the curtain above your eye seems half-open. According to you, the problems of humanity are free-market, morality and modernisation.

free markets have always been an idea which is over-rated and over hyped, but makes most sense compared with others around. Soviet union had its own problems due to which it had to reject communism. coming back to capitalism is indeed a good idea, if there is adequate regulation in the capitalist market. thats what america learnt and thats what india has been preaching and DOING these past years.

coming to the main issue of modernisation and morality, i guess you are surely mislead somewhere in between. yes, the newer generation is better than you because it has the power to know, reason out and decide what is right or wrong. You say self destruction is caused due to lack of understanding while taking a decision, yes i agree in some cases. However, that has helped the younger generation to understand the newer complexities and modern issues to start re-inventing themselves and become more competitive, compared to their colleagues of different nations. the power of a society is determined by the new blood it generates and clearly the younger generation churned out is far more competitive and power-hungry than their ancestors which were satisfied by farming/doing petty clerical stuff.

next, moral issues you have talked about is just an effect, not a problem. the effect of the earlier frustrations dwelling in the minds of parents. every bubble bursts, every closure vents up and thats what has happened. the shackles of ill-beliefs in the name of culture are being broken by the youth and they are learning it their own way rather than being spoonfed by some orthodox religious fools (calling themselves as gurus, baba's and yogi's). they are more rational than their ancestors, which would go to length to pay ransom or give favours to those religious fools which were running their show by acquiring hoards of money and land assets.

further, you talk about aberrations of society and generalise that every person is becoming like that. the killing by a teenage person was surely one which got publicity, but in your 'bharat' such events were more frequent and have never recieved an ear. i can go at length to explain the falseness of your claims, but its just that i would reiterate that there is some conviction in your logic, but again, the curtain is just half-open.

confessions of a candid conservative

well, i managed to get an yearly diary of a conservative. am chronologically placing the facts i found interesting.

pre 1990's
Courtesans exist, are underground and illegal. Apart from this fact, i am pretty happy about the human relations and society. Cinema is not a bad thing, after all. (Though some movies showing women in jazzy clothes disgusts me.) The ills of society are the western thoughts coming in the minds of people which considers smoking and liquor is a part of life. For the west it is, being a cold place to live, but india is tropical. No requirement of alchohol for heat or cigar for the feeling of high. I dont think the movements will stand the cultural strength of india. Its ram-bhumi after all.

1990-1995
Education for all is an important thing. I believe its imperative for girls too to learn as much as they want to. (though i am confused what good is education to a woman who will marry a young boy and stay a housewife.. ahh yes. Women are great teachers for kids, too). they have proved alchohol and cigarette are both bad for health, so people may start avoiding it in due course. They say economy should be opened and foriegners be allowed. am really bamboozled by that. why did gandhiji remove foriegners in the first place ? had at that time they thought that foriegners are good for economy, india would not have been so great as it is today. the most proud thing india has is its culture, its people and unity. no foriegner should come and affect us again. SAY NO TO any foriegn material. swadesi banao, swadesi khao...

1995-1999
well, these years have seen an exponential increase in western clothing for youngsters. i dont understand how people wear things like jeans. i am disgusted after seeing kuch kuch hota hai and other adventurous movies. Cinema is bad. This concept of making friends between boys and girls is experimental, but not immoral. but clearly this movie has struck every rich kid to find a partner and have an affair. That someday will not lead to moral results, though. i hope the indian values are taught to these kids studying in private, metro colleges and stop experimenting with relationships in teenages. The hot topic of discussion in kitty-parties and social clubs are gossips of girls found walking with a boy or talking with them.

One thing thats good is, the flourish of newspapers and media, which is helping every individual to know, reason and decide.

2000-2005
as i had dreaded, there has been a flourish of rapes, acid-attacks and injustice to the women because of this 'westernisation' of the minds. news channels and media just reports these things everyday. insecurity is eroding more indian values as more and more women wish to support themselves with a partner who can take care of her needs as well as prevent other guy's eyes on her. Discos, too share a hand in degrading youngsters. The boy-girl 'affair' thingy has slowly accrued into middle class (from the richer people), into the other urban cities an schools, apart from metros, and most importantly, into younger brains. immature youngsters in their 13's and 14's have started actively wooing girls (which are more immature and just started with puberty). I am shocked about the advent of MMS and cheap availability of porn, which is degrading values faster than global warming. Fights over girls are common in middle and rich class people with power, though the hot topic for discussion between aunties is not which girl was seen roaming around in the market, but that which girl was seen coming out of a guy's bedroom.

The economy of our country is seemingly increasing, too. more people are becoming rich and choice is increasing. however, i sense a shift in jobs, rather than creation of it. the clerks and 'babus' haven given way to call-centre employees.

2005-2008
Our country is looking brighter in terms of quality of life and i guess globalisation has helped. opening up of the economy in 1991 wasnt a bad idea, after all. Cities have started with movement of no-smoking and ambumani ramadoss, deserves a mention because of his strict stand against smoking. education is as important as water, electricity because of the increased complexity of the business.

Just perturbs me is that great colleges have turned into sex markets (someone told me about the happenings in IIM's, IIT's etc. in which discipline and has given way to sleeping together on same beds, living-in relationships and more). School children have started shooting just like what happens in US. virginity of a girl is lost around 16 (just like britain, where the govt. has urged schools to prevent abortions). india is going the wrong way, yes, but there is no check (atleast western govt. are preventing future cases to happen) ... in the name of freedom, people are leading towards self-destruction. Further, the advent of youngsters in pubs has led to increased drug-addiction.

2009
Moral standards have been decimated. alchohol, drugs and cigarettes are the lifelines of the massive young generation india boasts of. Marriage is no longer required, nor any social bond between youngsters. The middle and rich class have become india, while the poor are still 'bharat'. Bharat still has a society where ladies discuss that this girl was seen walking with a guy, where people mock but in a way care for the society. India is a personal secretive place, where sex is just like money or power, a barter. Bharat still has brothers fighting with the girl's boyfriend to not come near her, but india has brother of the girl wooing the boyfriend's sister for a one-night-stand. marriages end in a week if the guy is unable to satisfy the girl (does anyone remember their parents which are bonded till date, despite all odds, despite differences, they still stand strong, and probably better).

The gurus of globalisation have failed and its proved that all this free market thing is a bull-shit. with western countries thinking of protectionism, indian dogs still wag about their tails waiting for Foriegn investors to come back and give them glory, just like a courtesan waits every night for her customer. if the 'goras' can learn from india, why cant india learn from itself ???? is it necessary india has to learn from the F'ing west ?? they've done so for 2 generations, but to no greatness, apart from freedom .. waht ?? freedom of doing what ?? wearing inadequate clothes ?? f'ing any random chick on the road ?? killing your classmate ? marrying twice and adopting to muslim religion ??

why cant the proponents of freedom abide some rules and live like his/her ancestors did ??
My latest worry now is that bharat doesnt think of becoming india.
Pyaasa still rules with "yeh duniya agar mil bhi jaaye to kya hai ??? " it would continue to do so !

the exercise chronicles. (Soar, sore and sour)

exercising is good for health, if done in limits (and more importantly, in a conventional manner). Surely, a challenge of jumping over a mound of mud to another mound of mud placed 1 metre apart is not a great idea. I've learnt it the hard way, nevertheless. The jump execution was beyond average, SoaRing high in the air, but the landing faltered a little, with one leg landing first. only a portion of the heel touched ground and 60 Kg's of weight onto the poor heel. It had to give way.

So i was with a SORE foot. this doesnt help. after the experience, i glorily had 2 sprints, had an exercise session (which followed with some more jumps) and climbed atop a tree, jumped down and also did a tarzan'ish thingy swinging on a tree trunk. Then comes the longer day, with events like shopping, working and consulting stuff (another meet to the lawyer). The coffee today is just a little SOUR with all this pain in the foot and lots more work to do..

the next day follows with a leave from college (with a perfect alibi of a sore foot), but a random meeting followed in the afternoon. The yesterday exercising helps after all, i finally won my first arm-wrestling match in my adulthood.
Thank you Thank you !!

movie review - gulaal

am copy pasting stuff i wrote on imdb (11 out of 12 people liked it .. lol )

just moments after seeing the movie, I am speechless about it. A pretty heavy, engrossing and brain-consuming movie, its definitely not for the casual cinema-goers. For the more adventurous or socially opinionated people, its worth a watch. personally, i'd watch it over again, being a brilliant take on manipulative politics. One may compare it with other movies based on politics, but the major difference in this is that it relates with the simple minded, down to earth common man and how certain events can bring a destructive change in his mentality.

Set in a topical theme of Rajasthani traditions, it sets an account of how a straightforward, common, hard working man faces challenges of the grim modern world. The theme is engrossingly fast, manipulative and gripping (provided you don't expect an action filled murder mystery). So much being said and shown in the movie in so less a time, makes your brain racing on the heels of the movie.

Apart from the story line, the other most credulous thing about the movie is its ensemble cast. the only famous star, Kay Kay shines with his aggressive attitude perfectly. The main protagonist makes a stark resemblance with the innocence of superman's parallel life as a worker newspaper company.

Another very important positive are the songs (not all but some of them). Using old classics like 'Yeh Duniya Agar Mil Bhi Jaaye To ..' and Indian Bhajan's/Patriotic numbers and mixing them to make them relevant to the movie is a brave attempt, which has surely paid off for Anurag Kashyap.

Though my only worry about the movie is that for which kind of audience is such a movie prepared ? Its topically made, with rajasthan's ambience, language, B grade mujra songs and stuff (which would have rickshawla fans and biharis galore) but the storyline is so intensely brainwracking for them to understand (here comes the elite class and the gentry.) get everything in one movie ?? probably

friday, the 13th , a lucky day after alll !

well, my bed had enticed me today not to leave it at 8 o clock. With all the possible options of missing the finance class, i struggled against the desires of slumber and finally got ready (in an instant), Off to college. well, suprizingly 3 classes were held today, compared with the lack of teacher's interests to take up the classes since 2 weeks. rihani was at his murderous best, moving swiftly from one podium to the next.

Certain incidents like the infamous brawl of kansal and dhawan today deserve a special mention. it was a very intimate, romantic and hardcore action going on at the last bench where they were squeazing their muscles out trying to cause harm. anyways, dhawan stood the clear winner. (we even bet on that, alok put his 2 rs on kansal and had he won, he would have got 10 bucks back .. sadly, nothin of that sort happened). lol

Nag's class provided the much needed 'subway' break. aloo patty seemed okay, considering the descent of paneer tikkas down my tummy everyday... but just before that, the orange peel fight had began from the other portion of the class.both sides decked with armour, the players had their share of fun hitting out at sleeping or uninterested girls and people right on the faces.

next comes the arun class, (this blog is getting conventional with diff. para's for diff. teachers) its time for mexican waves in the class (now that what people aspire to do in class)..... until the teacher found out.. the torcherous period, where the motive was to make a person write to death.

anyways, college ended here for me here ... then comes the random trip to dharampur side, with school friends ... an unconventional one though, with the main character being a very sweet, but a little straightforwardly dumb friend(thats a bad word not intended in the bad sense, more rationally, it should be 'blonde'). It so happens sometime that the place you are touring becomes invisible but only the people you are with are important. Helps you enjoy a moment with yourself, without anything on the mind, no decision making, no nothing. Just you, yourself and your senses.

Now, then discussing from topics like recession to show off to people's sex life, it was a really stupid laughter riot, with lots and lots of bakwaas. Thankfully, i wasnt the target(as told, the sweet, little dumb friend got the honours). But anyways, what amazed me is that people were pretty hush-hush and curiously confused about my virginity.. now thats a separate issue, but anyways, how can there be any confusions regarding that ?? reminds me of the last year's ides of march.. oh . lets forget that, shall we?

yea, then its the time for alvida and coming back home. But eh, the day doesnt end here . does it ????? ya ya .. i have more to brag about the eventful day .... its night and at 11 i get a chance to watch 'gulaal', a take on the society, by maverick director, anurag kashyap. he was having a hard time sell his script since 2003, but i'd say its one hell of an engrossing, thoughtfully directed and heavy. not for the casual cinema-goers, but a breathtaking piece of work. Have not many words about it, but am equally sure people wont appreciate or like the movie .. so lets be diplomatic and say it's an okay movie, but personally, it was brilliant.

hey .. we missed something .. whats so lucky about it ?? well nothing really (apart from the fact its not unlucky, being friday and 13th together) but just seconds of comfort, peace, serenity and happiness. and yea .....today, a stupid and small yet fulfilling incident happened. it was a really sweet, respectful and caring voice ringing into my ears saying ... khholnaaa (well the word took an eternity to reach because of the respect in that tone ... ) .. ..

anyways, it went like ....
khholnaaa {long pause} apni khidki ... lots more 'blonde moments' and frolic followed, the coffee just seems sweet today ....

bura na maano... holi hai !

Well, i'd call it the meanest, dirtiest festival India offers. Yet, It always accompanies the funniest and most alternative, unconventional social interaction with friends . as they say .. bura na maano ... holi hai (dont feel bad about it, its holi today)
A quick look at wiki may suggest that it was meant to celebrate for the demise of some monster or witch (holika) which is done by burning effigies at night the day before holi. In the morning, people celebrate by colouring each other and merry-making.

My holi experiences have been varied.. sometimes getting the opportunity to prevent myself indulging into the messy festival, while sometime having a trouble removing residual marks of colours (or having cold, sneezing etc due to being wet for 3-4 hours)Anyways, holi at chandigarh never seemed to change since my childhood. And i've been in these roles my life.

For the young brats, holi is meant to be waking up in the morning, filling up buckets, balloons and getting ready for the verandah's of their house. Then they wait for people going outside on the roads to get a taste of their effort. the people living on the top floor are always at an advantage in the festival as they fill up buckets of colored water ready to throw at the common peddler going moving on the road.

The teenagers and bachelors take up the event of celebration on the roads. With bikes without silensors (confused bout spellings), coloured riders without helmets (but with bandanas), and mouth horns in their mouths, the roads have never seemed so live. The spoilt brats are in the comforts of their big cars, though, which are all decked up with friends (and sometimes dholkiwala's sittin in the back).
Holi parties also cater to the young generation. With mud pools, grease and eggs acting as the weapons of destruction, dry colors or water colors are a thing of the past. Music, beer and 'bhang' ke pakodas too come in handy with girls and boys grooving in with unrecognisable faces and wet bodies ....

for the adults, its an occasion to meet friends and play holi with 'clean' colors. flowers and Organic, sweet-smelling dry colors are used here .. Further, the religious people get an opportunity to show-off their conservativeness by organising mass bhajan recitation or some stupid stuff unknown to me, Though the adults are no less in enjoying it to the fullest, in their manners.

For me, this year was a mixture of roaming on the bike rides and getting in the mud-pool, water and dance and an egg on my neck ..... but was fun too, especially taking revenge for hte people who'd coloured me ... well, at holi, its all bout expressing yourself in a gross, perverse manner (thats the fun of it). hitting out the people when they least expect it. and after that, no sorries. its holi, remember ?? just cause whatever ordeal you want for your friends.

the end product of holi is a human looking in the mirror and laughing at himself(before going to the bathroom for the biggest bath of the year).

the age of experimental cinema ...

i got a chance to see this year's Filmfare awards.. It seemed a fixed, or more rationally, an affair dominated by big-wigs of the industry. though bakwaas movies like dostana, rab ne etc got 1 or 2 awards, they had nominations in many of the categories. however, the unforgettable movies of 2008, like A Wednesday, dasvidaniya etc. were just nominated for 1 or 2 categories. Further a fact came up that sholay, the biggest blockbuster india offered just 1 filmfare, that too for editing. Sadly, It seems that these award business is closely linked with the power at bollywood.

Nonetheless, Its heartening to know that the age of relevant, experimental cinema has dawned over bollywood. I'd believe its inception was started in around 2007, with low budget comic flicks proving commercial successes. Am talking about Khosla ka ghosla, bheja fry etc. Before you appreciate these subtle movies, i'd tell you a little history. The start of 1990's were dominated by family romantic movies with the backdrop of indian traditions. (sadly that age hasnt ended and we still see that stuff on TV, nowadays.). Adventure movies like khalnayak, tridev etc, which had poor acting, bad story deserve a mention to tell the taste of the audience.

Then comes the most bad time of indian cinema. Govinda's movies (with the title carrying no. 1) were most popular and widely liked by audience. Only 1 good thing i find about 1990's is that it gave andaz apna apna and maine pyar kiya ...

coming to late 90's shahrukh's romantic movies had changed Indian mentalities. with the advent of kuch kuch hota hai, the concept of girlfriends and boyfriends in teenage life started in metros, which was soon to be copied by in the name of westernisation of india. Then these themes continued till it got so sick that people finally realised yash raj film's movies suck. i personally have stopped seeing any movie of that banner since Kabhi alvida na kehna.

Then i'd call the start of experimental cinema. Till the time people get a particular topic to associate with, experimental movies are finding decent revenues and a lot of acclaim. Black friday, aamir etc deserve an appraise in that matter. more importantly, movies of paresh rawal, naseerudin shah, om puri, kay kay, irfan khan, rahul bose, abhay deol and shreyas talpade have been hits despite no one dominating the industry.

this 2009 has seen the use of mainstream actors into experimental cinema, which shows that the bollywood is finally accepted the age of experimental cinema. with delhi-6, the stoneman murders (i saw it yesterday and loved it), dev-d and luck by chance in 2 months, i hope more meaningful cinema is on the cards for the 10 left.
oh please dont remind me of billu barber .. it sucked really .. whatever optimistic that post says.

samsara-the cycle

"There is nothing called as NEW.. things just repeat over in a cycle."
A person may find topics as new and relevant today might have been existent in the same form centuries ago, though a person may be able to experience once in his lifetime, making it new. Conan doyle's short story (1890's)on sherlock holme's cracking up a bank robbery is the exact depiction shown in the movie 'The Bank Job'. More generalistically, recession is one topic once seen in the lives of our older generations. We're lucky experiencing it in ours.

Coming over, natural disasters arent new either, though they say the intensity keeps on increasing, to which i'd argue that its not about intensity but population density that's burning in your mind. Anyways, our scriptures (there's no harm in learning good things from them, OK??) too suggest similar things. What i find intriguingly relevant in hinduism is their philosophy of 'yugs'. Kalyug, the current time is suggestive of the kind of societal values we have and believe in. Buddhism comes up with the concept of cycle-the samsara, where an individual keeps on desiring one thing after the other and the only way out of this flowchart is the 'stop' symbol-death. Muslim religion reflects the straightforward, truthful obeyance to god, without any fickleness or hypocracy. Being orthodox in these contemporary times, we expect the rules of its religion to change. Learning from the past, its the same what happened with Christianity during the renaissance. It had become too 'ruly' and systematic for a person to abide. The lesson means that whatever be the religion, its NEVER a set of rules to follow. Its should be used as a guiding light to help the individual choose when in dilemma posed by the question of YES or NO.

Though we may call ourselves to be contemporary, modern or whatever, we still have some kind of 'habits' which may lead to superstitions in our mind. We give modern names to those-OCD(obsessive compulsive disorder), a lingo for the 'older' rituals or superstitions followed by our ancestors. in those days, people killed in the name of god and now they do the same. whats changed is 'lingo'. Begging, similarly dates back to jesus's time (or caesar's time).

oh.. global warming?? thats one issue which has never happened. Well, some staticians and models may help you negate the fact, but yes, that you may call something new.. i'd prefer calling it a new mask of some old issue. compare with recession, though the causes have been always different, the result is the same. bad time to come. similarly, global warming is just a cause. for something not good. (hope i dont need to be more verbose on this, you get it.. thats all )

I cant think of more contemporary issues so i'd stop here. but the point is, there's nothing called as new. not even patents ... (more on that later)

dekho dekho bandar ka tamasha .......

i just understood why in my childhood people liked watching the bandar ka tamasha .. when i'll turn old, i'll be bragging my grandchildren that the golden days were those when hawkers roamed the streets and damru ke saath bolta tha banda .... "dekho dekho bandar ka tamasha .... "

i now appreciate why people liked it. society likes drama, in any sense.. a small brawl results in lots of people lining up to satisfy their curiosities and having some drama in their 'lifeless' life.....

oh what am i writing about ?? this post is intended to brief about the bandar ka tamasha going on at PEC these days .. some freaking committee (NBA), called by request of PEC people only are meant to be giving PEC some marks and accreditation for 3 or 5 years ... thats great news for the college, since it has never got such accreditation.

but the bandar ka tamasha is that how the college changes in such a short span of time. with jamadars waking up in the wee hours (that should be read as 9 o clock) to clean the hell out of PEC, painters painting the newly made roads of the college, tent wala's putting up flags just about by 11 o clock, PEC seemed to hustle and bustle today, not because of students but because of people cleaning it all up..
anyways, things get even by 11 o clock. topped by the instruction of teachers for students to stay in class (though there is nothing to do in it),PEC looks chic, cool and peppy ...

Starting with seeing the college's facilities, hostels etc, everything is done to impress these bunch of no-good people to give some marks for our college .... anyways, everything .. AND I MEAN EVERYTHING (now dont think too much) must have been tried to impress the guys .. from making new chairs for Computer centre, making the lab's look really cool (as if someone works in them) i even think the dressing sense of girls was changed in our college, just for today (lol). the tamasha carries on and teachers are busy inserting goody goody things into NBA's ears till 5 o clock .. while the poor children (including me) are sitting, wasting their all important time sitting in the class, doing nothing....

now comes the time for the CLIMAX. at 5, people are being inserted into the auditorium to make it fill up to capacity. even some worker was seen spraying room freshener near the place they were supposed to sit to make the committee happy. come 6 o clock and the NAB comes into the auditorium. around 100 students were deliberately installed to sit and show their presence. while at the back of my mind, i was confident that random people should not have been called. Instead only the 'flagbearers' or the important guys of PEC should be intimated. However, they decided to pack the auditorium.

these NAB people turn out to be intelligent after all, trying to coax the public by telling that they will try telling the departments and administration about the shortcoming .and yes, they take care to not let any college teacher or faculty be nearby and also prevent any photograph/video been made .. a simple, easy trap.. which 100 people sitting in the audi fall into, simply. all they ask is to tell wrongthings of PEC. and sadly, we tell them ..

well, i started telling the shortcomings about PEC, in a diplomatic way, explaining that PEC has small size (in respect of land) and budget to get best facilities. things move on and the discussion becomes more candid. and more .... From lack of wifi speed, hostel problems, lack of infrastructure, to being scared of teachers everything .... imagine the end ... no ??

someone stands up and tells the guys (who would be rating the college) that why does so much changed only when you have come ?? why not everytime ?? (it ends with "please NAB should come every month". clapping and applause) haha .. everyone gets the point .. bandar ka tamasha hai .. aaj vo judge hai. jab unke college mai hoga, vo hi is tamashe ka integral hissa hoge ...

the first sessionals of the final sem

well, there is a tradition that the first sessionals always suck. well, this time was not different but in all ways, more stylish...
to be remembered as the 'baddesst' and the 'meannest' sems after 3rd sem, I wasnt in a mood to be studying for the exams, i just went over to every paper without much preparation..
the 1st one-wireless by nag carried just 2 questions (out of which i knew none!). the hour passed away quietly with people scribbling away random things onto their sheets (and i was no exception, for the obvious reasons). for people to get double digits would be impossible, so it should be just a matter of the topper having 8 while the people who dont know anything manage 2-3 marks .. does that matter, anyways ??

the next comes my most anticipated paper, the ultimate laughter inducing, rehani's (misspelled cause of google) question paper .. though it seemed simpler than his other design papers, i was satisfied as i knew the stuff this time ... but lack of time gets you, anyways.. dont expect any marks above 5/20

the suprise bag, microwave was the most 'rapeofying' of them all. the hype around the paper was that its a formula based paper, having simple questions. seriously speaking, my study for the exam was so poor because of me being busy making up document for NSS, searching about further study and other things amid my exams, i didnt feel like it .. topped with the declaration on the day before this paper that i was probable for imperial and duke's admit mail, i bet no one in my shoes would think of studying after getting admit's from big shots like those..

anyways, that really paid off .. my NOT studying, that is... the paper was a complete rape ..... out of 5 questions, i could'nt understand the english written in two of them .. another one question was a derivation (which our teacher had told would not be coming, so everyone left derivations and crammed up formulas instead).
the remaining questions were'nt piece of cake either....

1 required we bought alongwith us a smith chart(which is a convoluted puzzle having circles and stuff) and use it to find some answer. the best part was that i was seeing the chart first time in my life and kept on admiring it for about 30 minutes throughout the exam... i drew random lines onto it(after seeing nearby ppl making lines on it) and kept it in my sheet.. and one thing i missed is that no one knew how to use the chart, so no one got it for the exam. (my luck that bimal gave one to me just a minute before the exam). so comes our marks .. 3/15 (assuming i got the 1 question i attempted out of 5 right)

the final verdict:::
wireless 5 Comp. arch 5 and micro 3 ..... i hope people now understands why 1st sessionals suck and stop studying for it ......................................
