We'll august 15th has been a high alert day for the whole of india. no one wants any kind of unsocial activity on that day. the liquour shops are supposedly closed, and the holiday is meant to be a relaxing one. The middle age people either meet out people or spend the day catching up their sleep. The young ones have a reason to party while for some, thinking about India, freedom and democracy for 1-2 minutes gives a high which they boast on their twitter feeds or facebook status'es. Well, there's nothing special about the day and that no-nonsense feeling of patriotism which kindles minds of people (for a minute or so) is just bullshit, anyways, later on that.
My august, has been a lazy one. This wouldnt have been any different. even the holiday was reduced to a No-Holiday because it came on a saturday. My sleep was disturbed innumerable times, marking it a special day compared to the rest of august, with phones, people coming for meeting etc. anyways, i was rebellious to the signals and decided to wake up at 2PM only. i had to catch up with friends over a friend's birthday party (i missed calling him on his birthday and i felt so guilty for that, i didnt call him up even then). Mom had brute-force persuaded me to have a 'mini' lunch before i went to meet them and i had to eat 2 rotis up to leave home. We were meeting because of the holidays of the 'luckier' friends which were on job in gurgaon, noida etc.
Thankfully, we catched up in 17 and my friends werent interested in eating at 3. we went for 'jean' hunting for my 'birthday' friend. as usual, it happened the other way around, with me shopping some random sweatshirt and he was still in the deciding frame of mind. but then happened the main lunch, at 5. i had a 3 course meal, with the first two at hot millions salad bar, the last one at oven fresh. soup followed by fajita and chocolate fantasy, my stomach felt filled and the taste buds joyously happy. sector 17 seemed strangefully filled up with a mob of people and more importantly, a semi- mob of police, roaming around the region to be on toes in case something fishy happens. with swine flu and bomb scare, i wondered why do people come in large quantities to public places ?? the end of season sale, i guess..... came 6 and i had decided to get some work done, so i went to panchkula only to find the roads jam packed with traffic. august 15th ! yes .. another reason to stay at home.
while returning home, i was called up again to find another party (this time a dinner) in 17. it was 8 now, and after returning home and dropping mom, i was again on my way to 17, for a friend's 1st salary party, at taj. the day was definately out of the world, for my routine of august. Home, home and home with activities like sleep food sleep continuing in a cyclic manner. anyways, taj was an okay experience for the culinary me, with average food and some better than average desserts. comparing the price listing of the buffet and the quality of food + service of the staff, my friends seemed utterly disappointed, though.
its 10 and theres just mention of food food and food in this post.. where's the adventure ?? here it comes patient readers.. we decide to go at sukhna lake for some 'digestion' and passing time together after a long time of passing out of college, where we were enjoying all those 'stupid' discussions which dont have an answer, yet has intrigued us in our 4 years of college . the same things with the same endings, nothing can change minds of people, not even the sophistication of job and the matarial possession of money. anyways, while going back came the biggest suprize of the day.. while we were in logical fight over whose point of view is correct, waiting for us were a couple of policemen, seeing our car parked in a not-so-legal parking with specially 15th august as a backdrop. They say they were patrolling the region and found out 3 cars parked here, of which 1 was of a family, this one of 4 guys (talking in a loud manner) and the last car remained a mystery whose it was. we were in for a shock after the 'haryana' guy had taken up the car documents and written a report about 'his' discovery. he asked us is everyone feeling healthy ? our answers of yes were followed by, ok , you have to stay up in jail til 11AM tomorrow, so you better be feeling it. lots of more hard-talk, followed by our coercion followed. the details are not worth explaining, but gladly,we were saved after 45 minutes of listening to him . ... and all the while, i just remembered the innumerable experiences i had with police, everyone being so different and yet so same..

short stories
just some small incidents came to my mind right now. Sometimes small things, like a touch or a smile or something can just make your day .. the past week's was with its frustrations n celebrations. things are moving, Just seems like i'm in a ship in a middle of an ocean, finding an island.. (i have a map, but am confused which one to choose and why).
Sleeping... the night before you were pissed off because of some things that the best way to get rid of the disease is to sleep. Just imagine waking up seeing a face, devoid of its youth, lots of wrinkles but a smile which could just make an heartache. My grandfather was looking at me, in smile, trying to wake me up, telling me your work would be done, dont feel sad.Such is the power of emotions, care and the invisible happiness which can just make stones turn. Waking up to this, I believe is a bliss possible once in a lifetime.
Who says only children are cute ??
Now, on a bike, the red lights on a crossing.... getting the opportunity to see a foot, red nailpaint n okayish slippers. The girl is busy seeing you and yyou seeing her now. The lights are 5, 4 .. the girl starts . now your mind races . she was looking n den goes.. she's interested ? should u follow her ? or wait for 3 .. she's raced ahead now .. I wait. just wen its 0, see 2 more scooters racing wid me, 2 girls, definately better than the 1st one, are going side by side .. moral of the story ???
u knw.. wait mate !! u'll get better things in life !

tender bender
Mr. Yadav hinted at the staircase and started moving his long legs, wearing a casual jeans and a shirt (for a senior government employee above 55, it seemed cool) and a swarm of people followed, some in their best formal attire, with clean shaves, hairdo and polished leather shoes. The others, though not much in quantity (like me) were just wearing some-clothes to do us good. With a big beard on the face, i must have looked sick in front of these people. Anyways, i followed, too. We were moving down from the 4th floor to the ground to sit in a conference room
Todays scenes were flashing in my memory, the Pizza lunch, me in the same place submitting the quotation (and before that running up and down 3 times to find the exact location of the department). The classes that never took place and some discussions about the quotation for the tender (a lot of them actually). well, i was assisting someone for tender of lights to be installed in some department in chandigarh. and here i was back again, in the conference room, with a secret in my mind. the price which no one in the room knew, (but same applied to them). in a few minutes, quotations were to be opened in front of us and we would be witness to a game, similar to casino, a game of numbers, a game of having the best bet and a game of probability. seeing everyone's faces, the swanky businessmen around, i was sure about their lack of technical expertise in the field the tender was. further, this class smelled of greed, the sealed envelopes must have high prices in it, my belief. i had got a seat now n i was analysing the people around. people were asking questions from Mr Yadav, one person even mocked at the specifications mentioned in the sheet. "thats old technology". A curt response to finish him off and some more questions followed.
People which are most likely to give-away are the insecure ones. Their minds know about the possibility of losing and they've already experienced it before, though dreaded it, but still have given it their shot. with more questions, more of their insecurity and personality kept coming clearer and when the envelopes started opening, all businessmen were reduced to some 9th grade children wanting to keep on scribbling to know more about their 3 competitors.
1) 9.48 Lacs
.... some pause, some scribbling, some details asked for and told about etc etc. people were just being so bumbly dumb n i was sitting there, expressionless, with the secret in my mind.
2) 9.75 Lacs
a suppressed sigh of relief from the party no. 1, of which 2 people stood up, in their late 20's and another colleague, a 35+ chap scribbling down as fast and illegibly he could.
The team sitting in front of me had bee scribbling down and a sense of queer arrogance in the face of the sardarjee (whose tender was just opened, took my mention)
3) 7.15 Lacs for some bullshit and 6.95 Lacs for another ..
ooooooo .. the difference ! this guy must be the real one, the supplier of the products who's quoting the correct price for the job. the rest clearly have to be middlemen. clearly, there clothes did mention that only.
2 to go... myself still emotionless, but the thought making me consider a possibility that its decreasing in a spiral manner, we dont want to go lesser than this .. ...
this was ours.
2)(the reason why i sat there) .. 6.37 Lacs .. hmmmmm .. my secret was in front of everyone, just read out by Mr Yadav, who was now signing the pages he'd just read. people were just seeing the backbenchers now, the people who quoted this must be sitting in the backseat cause the ones asking the questions and have used up all their emotions are the frontbenchers... who me ? nooo .. not me someone else's it must be.. still n straight was the way to go .
1) 10.something .. n i just didnt want to hear more .. plus he wanted 1 more( for his wife i guess).
the game was over n battle won.
Going out, a person saw and just said, "from whom you'll get the stuff ? china ? but its impossible to get at this rate. you have links there ? "
"I am making them myself"
" your experience? "
" 3 years"
" we've spent 10 years and swear its not possible to make it in india !" .. some curses n i had decided to step in.
"i guess your technical knowledge was a little lesser and mine a little more then.. "
muted by words, agreeing now, it turned out that people were really not that red-taped as they looked to be.
N i was just left with the thought" O people .. why cant indian brains make things which the bloddy chinese can ?
is it necessary they have to be cheaper ? "
god bless

gtalk status messages and more
whats about the philosophy these days ? whats about all the 1 liners on gtalk status messages ? well, am late to discuss it, but june and early july has been the most 'philosophical' month for the freshly graduated engineers (including me).
Why ? no naukri (for the majority) , no chokkri (for some more unlucky ones).
With the recession making our lives miserable, most of the people experienced sorry letters, deferrals and lots more. some unluckier like me, still havent recieved any intimation by the companies. all this stress just after the joy of graduating made it sound more miserable. Plus the reminiscence of belts being hit and parties been given (which burnt a hole in everyone's pockets) in the name of job acceptances making it all the more miserable.
all this was evident on gtalk status messages, with practically everyone turning a philosopher or cursing someone or the other.
With cliche's like 'naukri dava de rabba' to more philosophical like 'pessimism never won any battle', sometimes even emotions fail to do justice to how i feel', 'If you're falling off a cliff, you may as well try to fly...You have nothing to loose' and god knows what to cocky ones like 'aVELAbel' available+vela.. lol,
everyones turned into a philosopher. ok. that june has passed and july's bought news about joining for the most. the transition, too has been something to show off about. those getting the joinings feel sorry for leaving chandigarh (to boast that they've got the joining), while some explicitly type 'got the joining' on the status.
its big news, to get a joining, even if from some bullshit company giving a crap of 17K per month or 25 K per month only. just remember last year, things moved in 6lac per annum and stuff, and now people are just so happy to get even salaries of clerks to just go out of home and feel happy to be on a job while the rest of their peers still are busy with empty minds making new philosophies and sharing 'desperate' status messages.
PS: i dedicate this space to ***** ****(name suppressed), who started it all, the desperate messages since his puberty (that happened like 2nd year college) when he started finding a girl for his life, sadly, we all had to witness some crappy status's of his for 2 years.

kiddish bullshit Part 2
the next day, the same guys + some new people - Hathi... The bullshit continued with the same guys starting from where they left and the new guys feeling all the more insecure (probably that they came to the wrong party). sadly this time, the waiters were too sharp to throw us out of the restro to cause much damage.
things moved on to my place as the heat was intolerable to roam around in chandigarh's lake/marketplaces/gardens. after some more bullshit plus a dose of 'gunda', my stomach was paining just like the membrane of drums would be doing after any rock performance.
the day that started with being kids had now started becoming more natural and adventurous. after a swimming session in gymkhana club and some random roaming in panchkula streets, we were off to the mohali club to find a jam-packed full house playing tambola. The dinner was lovely, my pineapple juice lovelier. then the baskin robbin icecream and suddenly its 1 in the night. the time had just flown quickly and the exhaustion in our eyes. the day doesnt end here. A short lake visit is on the cards. its 2 now and then we realise the need of sleep. but before that, a quick game of poker on facebook (dont forget 10 min of xmen, too) ends the so so entirely busy day .....

the kiddish bullshit
Aaah.. u're 21, big and old enough to face life. ya .. you are ..... but just then you meet your schoolfriends (and there's nothing like meeting after a long time or something, its like we meet every now and then.... ) . you're suddenly in 10th, transported by bonds of camaraderie, the never ending stories and the never ceasing gossip.
Its not a new feeling to me, but, all the while, its better typing it off rather than not. the age when words like 'bada' 'chotta' 'patla' 'mota' 'aage' 'peeche' make u keep on laughing non stop (while the nearby people are wondering what kind of people are these?). the time when any word can be morphed to make you laugh...
pervut, ashole, gaadi ki 'dikky', kabaristan ki thoka thaaki, peepa and god-only-knows how many more 1 liners ... and all the more expressions .... its so obviously stupid, yet all the more comic... the stomachs start aching, eyes red, tears roll and people are forced to bang their hands and faces on the table. yet no one stops laughing. Is this being in 10th ??
the time has passed. yet the memories remain and so do the gossips, the camaraderie and the stories .. is it 10th ?? or is it 3 engineers, 1 doctor and 1 'chemist' just talking some good ol' bullshit ???

wrath of the ganga
CHAPTER 1 :
INTRODUCTION
The past decade i have roamed around various places i have seen ganges in its flow throughout. from haridwar to agra, varanasi, allahabad through bihar/jharkhand and then finally meeting in west bengal. its always been a timid river for me, with broad gullies, sullen flow and it always has been a dragging kind of river for me. I've rafted and bathed in it (rishikesh), seen slumdoggers wash clothes and children dive-jump in the shallow waters in UP. I've had experiences of robbery on the bridge of ganges in Bihar and even have thought of throwing the thief caught there from the moving railway train in west bengal's ganges water. (the people decided to throw him when we were stationary).
the point is i've had lots of experiences with ganga. the all-worshipped godly ganga. its been always slower than a caterpillar apart from the 5-6 rapids seen in rishikesh. However, that was not menacing at the least. Its just one river nearly half of india enjoys itself with. some pet given the alias of god.
Never had i expected to see the wrath of ganges, the holiest (and arguably, the most 'inhabited' river in the world). going up rishikesh towards the origins of ganges, we notice that there is no ganges after a place called devprayag. 'prayag' means confluence of rivers. devprayag makes ganga to be called ganga. the two rivers making it are alaknanda and bhagirathi. so technically, ganga has and will always be the timid river i've imagined and seen all these years.
On my way to hemkund sahib, i had a first-hand view of the start of ganga's main predecessors- alaknanda (which comes from mountains nearby badrinath). there are 5 'prayags' coming in the way (but dont ask me which all rivers join to make what in every prayag). the names are what interests me. dev, vishnu, karan, rudra (and one more i dont remember, google and see yourself). you have option to see kedarnath from rudraprayag (which i didnt exercise and went to joshimath to see hemkund sahib). other places of interests are chopta (with a shiv temple). anyways, its not an intended religious post so lets stop here.
CHAPTER 2:
The IMPACT
The journey has been tiring and i decide to rest myself at 5 PM on the banks of ganga(technically alaknanda, but i wont use it again) on a cornerstone. the view i cant ever forget. a small tributary (about 7-10 metres i guess)with some small rocks and some big ones (on which i lay). in front of it a huge mountain with a peculiar top. yes, peculiar. the left has a bridge, a green one, to allow people to start their 'yatra' for hemkund sahib, the bridge (they say) which connects earth to 'lokpal'. the green bridge is a suspension type (just like laxman jhoola etc, with lesser ropes to support it and with more swing to notice in the centre). the back has a huge gurudwara built on a mountain which is stopping the sun's light to reach us and while the sunset, the sky is orangish, with the far-away himalya mountains (surpassing the bridge) glowing in white and blues. some people are busy getting their pictures clicked on different stone-tops while others are busy getting naked for a bath in the holy water.
the action starts with a warning horn sounded 3 times. everyone near the river starts running here and there trying to decipher whats going on. my first reaction is lets go to the green bridge and get a view of the whole place from top to see whats happening. going up towards the bridge, i saw the person making the warning horn. some socialising helped me know that the flow in the water is going to increase, so the horn to come back from the water and stop bathing. i decide to go up the bridge and see myself whats on cards.
people running here and there, I Meet a girl, asking whats all the hullabaloo about. more socialising made me decide lets go down near the river and see why people are running towards te bridge to catch the glimpse of some 'phenomenon' going to happen. i stand up on the topmost mound on the corner of the bridge to get the best view of the tributary and the people running on the bridge.
Suddenly, the bridge becomes vertical, then the sound of breaking of a rope and then a huge puff of dust forces me to turn direction. going down from the mound i stood, i realise that only the legs of 150 odd people are now to be seen, they holding themselves with the grill of the bridge. people on the corner held the rope and reached earth while the ones on the centre made way and jumped on a shop's roof to save themselves. a red bag fell in the centre of the bridge while a person jumped without seeing the earth(and broke his legs). everyone else were alive. scot-free.

CHAPTER 3:
ADVENTURE
The aftermath was comic, with management shouting on the mikes (in punjabi) and scolding people out loud. aahh .. the surds .. interesting . anyways, the next morning and we have to cross the river without the bridge (or wait for the stupid management guys to mend the bridge (which still hasnt been done)). the people which arrived later had to sleep in the night the other side of the mountain.
its 6'ish in the morning and my friend just had a view of the river saying water is too high to cross the way he did yesterday. at 7:30, i have a look and find military making a bridge and people waiting for their turn. i've decided we'll cross the damn river by jumping on the stones and not wait for the military to make their no-good temporary bridge.
after walking a distance from the place the military were making the bridge, we saw a group of people making jumping on rocks to reach the other side. there were about 4 different ways to do so, with no support of professional people (so if u slide or jump wrongly, be in the deep water and say buhbye to everything). and i decide to go from the toughest route, the one having 2 huge gaps between rocks that one gap was to be done by walking slowly on a plank while the other was to be done by pushing your body ahead on a log of wood.
to reach the big gaps was a task in itself. accurate jumps on stones and a strong grip was necessary (with a bag on my back and a stick in my hand). The 1st gap was now in front of me and i put my right foot on the plank. it drowned.
Balancing myself very awkwardly, i just escaped the wrath. my right shoe, my right leg all wet, i finally removed the shoes and socks and held it in the other hand .. then slowly was I able to balance on the plank. the next was the pseudo-rappling- lunging your body forward on the round wooden log. a little caution and i was able to complete it without drowning myself.
\

the person who held the other side of the log and helped me stand up on the stone, i realised was doing 'sewa' helping people cross the river. according to his friends waiting for him, he just had escaped his death. the time he was crossing, the log turned round and he faced the gushing water. he rappled without any ropes and didnt let the log turn again otherwise he'd be holding the log in the water. i had a picture with the other 2 surds which were equally friendly . 2 quick interaction of sentences, and we were off our own ways (only to meet again later) :
"duniya mai 4 cheezon ko rokna mushkil hai ... .
water, air, fire and ...... sardar"
(about the mentality people had and the inherited impatience helping them find ways to cross the river and go to hemkund)
"the crossing was a free adventure trip, the one for which you pay 800 bucks in manali and 2000 bucks in mauritius... , and this one was actually for FREE (and without any safety)"
(about the crossing-the-river experience)

CHAPTER 4
THE POLITICS
The hemkund experience was good and after 2 days of lots of walking (38 kms to be precise) we were back at the same spot. but the other side of the mountain. The only thing left was to cross the river again and go back home.
The first experience of breaking of the bridge told that the water was never deep while the 2nd one showed that even with the deep water the stones above the ground easily made the escapade possible.
this one was the most tragic. there was practically no possible way of crossing the river. while i was on the mountain, i saw innumerable people waiting for the military to finish making a bridge ( i got to know 3 temporary bridges made by military had been broken by the water flow). going towards the mass (called 'sangat'), i realised there were more than 1K people waiting there turn to cross the river. some being too adventurous just crossed over the broken bridge.

Not losing hope, i went near the river to find any place from where jumping over rocks may end me reaching the other shore. i measured the whole river from the cliff to the other mountain end (where a tributary met the river). No way of going there. the water was so fast and deep, there was no possibility of reaching the other side. all ideas used, we had ropes, logs of wood, planks and i also suggested holding hands to cross the river but the water was so deep that no one's feet would touch to make a human chain. Hell, we even tried throwing rocks in the water but to no avail. ;-)
I hurried up the mountain to go towards the broken bridge. A life-threatening shortcut beckoned me. and sadly i took it. there was a himalyan cactus-kinda plant and above that was the main route to the bridge. the other way was too long and winding to reach. i held my hand on the branch of the tree and lunged above to hold the stones on the floor of the way above the cactus.
my legs gave way and i was mid air holding the stone. then my hand gave way and i was mid-air with only a single hand on the branch while everything down was cliff. another try, this time, more desperate, i gave it my full shot. i reached up, and realised that in the process all the small needles had pierced my shirt, my jeans and scratched up my body. i needed water desperately now. the 'sangat' gave me water and i reached the broken bridge to realise that they were not allowing people to go from the bridge.
The only way was to wait for the military to make the bridge. after some rest on the banks, i went near the place of action- the crowded place where people were eagerly awaiting military to finish the bridge. There i met the 3 surds again, energyless, eager to reach the other side (they had slept the whole night on the other side and had nothing to eat since like 18 hours). My contingency parle-G biscuits came in handy and helped me gain acceptance in the nearby crowd which were not so eager to give place for me to stand in the crowded place awaiting turn on the bridge.
As soon as the bridge was about to be completed, stood a person shouting slogans and 'bhadkaoo bhashan' against the authorities which did not act fast. With chanting about the sikh prime minister and lack of action taken by the authorities, the mob grew fast. they even wanted to stone the new bridge and break it up ! People wanted a riot for sure and i was loving the place more. How more interesting can sardars be? they have a bleak chance of reaching the destination but all they now want to do is make an issue out of it rather than praise the people who just tried to finish the temporary bridge. My camera got into the action and i was standing next to the person sayin bhadkaoo bhashan, trying to catch his words into the small microphone. someone just yelled out"he's the one whose wife doesnt listen to him at home, so he's trying to dominate here". some logical people remained quiet waiting for him to reduce his water content (the sun was pouring hot) and be quiet. the others were enjoying people turn into an angry mob ready to kill. (more interesting is unlike others, which may want to kill but dont have weapons nearby, some sikhs were carrying knives.. scary .. ).
it may just take 2 minutes to create a riot when more than 1K people stand together. anyone may want to fight for any trivial reason. the whole politics about the broken bridge, military, authorities and indian PM happened for about 45 minutes (with outbursts and troughs). then the bridge opened and some canny work helped me with the 3 patiala surds go fast to the other side.
just 2 hours after, (at 6) there were still more than 1K people left on the other side. but the bridge had broken again. ... the wrath of ganga. the flow was so fast at 6, no stone was been seen in the river and it was gushing like a bullet train.

i had just made it in time because they were not allowing males to go the other side . only females and kids were allowed to cross. i thanked god for crossing in time, otherwise my night would have been in the open, on a mountain, with no urbane benefits and scorpions, crabs etc lurking in the dark.
just returned home witnessing the wrath. of ganga.

SD card ....
This carries on from the annual honors ceremony where i broke my camera .. luckily it got repaired in time for my trip to mauritius .. now, another story crops up in this whole episode .. first, the mental trauma of losing a possession .. then the joy of seeing it back to life...
when i got back the camera, i just found to my luck, a 2GB SD card left inside by mistake by the service centre guys ....
thats the another story ...
it had, by chance, 200+ pictures plus videos... it started with closeups of the guy whose card it must have been .. the poor quality pics clearly suggested that the camera was either a digital camcorder (bcoz of brilliant quality videos), must have been panasonic(we knw it for its good video quality, i personally have seen that)... seems sherlock holmes like, but the point is that the camera does not now exist.. thats for sure .. coming to the pictures, the facts lie here ...
the SD card saw bangkok (or some that kind of place, with dolphins and sound/light shows dominating the starting 100 pictures.. ) then some family function with girls dancing (i wonder why people like taking videos of girls dancing, that too from steep angles).
the person has married(in his late 30's or early 40's), has 2 kids, (a boy and a girl)apart from a joint family kind of culture, it seemed the pictures clicked were of last summer's. (probably earlier).
basically the guy's a rich one, had a new home (in some outskirt of chandi or punjab). he's a baniya, for sure and has a traditional punjabi culture in his roots. anyways, the SD card travelled some new plots too, probably the guy is a property consultant or something ... (thats where he got money to take family on a bangkok trip). his mentality is average, but i've mentioned the distinct baniya traits in him .. ...
then came the sad part .. the pics changed to the known panasonic service centre, being used for its test purposes .. some pics later, came me, when the owner showed a pic of me by clicking using my camera ... the camera was working... and i also got a 2 GB SD card alongwith it ...
now its all formatted .. deleted from memory .. hope it stays here

the lotus eater ..
yes . opeth's new album shares the name with what has happened in indian politics .. shall i also say it was a 3rd front eater ??
i am no hard fan of any party or any person, but its too obvious why congress outperformed .. .as told by the inlighted people, this is the first time the young generation (40% of population) is going to vote . this young generation is however different from the previous young ones. . they are grown up after 1991 liberation of india ... that is actually a big turning point.. we know that the next generation would be learning all about the 1991 reforms, but though we're unaware of the importance of it, we've grown up in it and have just taken up stand against many things ..
firstly the religional divides. no guy supports it and it wont work. next comes development. we are pretty much aware of inclusive growth and think ideologically that with our increase in income, the poor should benefit as well. the days of lack of information are over . all the information is at a touch of a button. we are intelligent and thats why we decide after thinking. anyways, the major reason of the 'lotus eating' was rahul gandhi. the girls swoon over him while the guys consider him an intelligent guy after listening his conversation.
anyways, i am not a fan of his but there is just one thing the congress can boast of and that is the young brigade, with jyoti scindhya, sachin pilot etc . the point is that all the BJP leaders were due to emergency in 1971 and after that, no leader has come from its wings .. they have just grown older. even lalu, nitish were offsprings of 1971 emergency. anyways, the rahul factor has helped newer faces come into an imperialist party and helped its cause . thats why he got the praise which he deserves. coming to congress, it means business and it should, too . it should focus on inclusive growth, have a left inside it (to prevent any wrong action, which would make india suffer, cause though they are fools, they helped the last regime big time by stopping certain decisions on disinvestment and policy making. ) an example is the trouble chinese govt. is in and indian govt. hardly has a problem with US now, after its collapse is that left guys prevented indian PSU banks to buy fraudulent securities (of the AAA companies at that time) and it helped when we they crashed . had congress been alone, we'd have been in a bigger mess that we are in right now .
so, you've eaten the lotus, now you must open your minds policy makers ... think and think hard ! cause indians are good at it and we have that foresight to get us to greater heights than never before.

annual honors ceremony ...
the tamasha has finished, the results out and all the 4 year acts just come down to one word .. color .. college color.. for the less educated, a college color is a piece of highest achievement done during college days. IIT's are supposed to give 10 college colors to people who have not only excelled in their fields but got laurels for the college.
In PEC, last year was different (with 100+ people getting colors making a mockery out of it.) Our DSW sir, at the cleaning up task, was brilliant to suggest that the number would reduce to just 40'ish. 1 guy gets only 1 color despite he being great in 2 or more things .. and so the other rules follow up ..
But the tamasha of getting recognition is as simple as forcing your way to get one. All you have to do is be argumentative, have lots of butter and be forceful in some way (approach of prakash singh badal did it last year, this year having relatives with college authority may do the trick). Well, some people have really worked hard over the span of the college and deserve the peice of recognition. while others are great at the art of pleasing and deserve a color, too. But what makes me sad is the 'external' pressure which causes people to change decisions and get a recognition he DOES NOT definately deserve. I understand quantifying work done by individual is not a piece of cake, but by doing just 1 thing due to 'external' pressure tarnishes the image of the system.
Further, the 'pleasing' guys (i call that GC wale bande) just need to be at the right moment and time and just by forcing authorities can get their job done ...... thats not idealistic, but practically thats what has always happened and will always will .. but is there anything we can do about it ?? can anyone really justify that these acts of forcing yourself to get recognition or anything good ?
i've got a color for NSS (which i had no certificate for 4 years till now and felt really sad cause i had devoted my energy into it, but now feel satisfied with the best recognition possible) and for IETE, (For which frankly i just worked for 2 years, not a thing i've really put my life behind here in college, but its just a compensator because i worked damn hard 4 years on the trot in PECFEST and could just not get a college color for it. but anyways, i deserved it for my personal accomplishments done in the technical field. )
am content, but certain people which i feel bad for are harman, sharma, harshal, gurinder etc. because they deserved a fair chance, too, if certain people who've worked equalto or less than them got it.

the final countdown....
The final week of the college (assuming final exams turn out to be a smooth affair) is turning out to be really unexpected, to say the least. have way down, we've had some nice suprises after the disaster of Open House held on saturday .. (thats a personal thing, so no more discussions)
now then, we get to know the busy schedule ahead.... Monday is the usual day having 1 or 2 classes where arun 'maaroes' some senti to make a point.
Trying to make us remember the bond we share with teachers and more blah blah about respect and not to say bad about them (which is definately true, but being truthful has never and will never be wrong). This makes me think about the 'political correctness' and praising everyone and not saying true things despite you feel that (just for the sake of getting more promotions or more people start liking you or all the things) they call that being practical .. yes .. that is .. being true may not make you rise high but remind you that you never bent low for petty rises in life.... thats what a leader is supposed to do cause when the opportunity beckons, the true will jump higher than the sycophant followers....
anyways philosophy later, its more about the final countdown .. well wednesday comes and so does the final departmental farewell, which is a sweet suprize, with a sweet saying written specially for us on the blackboard (reminds of the school rite ). then teachers inviting us for a snack with them and casual discussion over the cup of tea.. ... then comes a classroom discussion with a beautiful message by the teachers about the 'start' of the new phase of life .... a career and really an optimistism injection which everyone would never forget ...
then comes the dinner at director's house, a special treat by the college (imagine a govt. college with all the bureaucracy all the four years to get a single rupee holding out a lavish dinner for the final yearites as a farewell gift.... something totally unexpected and something really sweet)
such acts of exuberance shows the love the authorities want to imbibe in us for the college and rightly so... they deserve it..
apart from the technical glitches, the poor interaction and a wide gap between the students and teachers, the college has helped everyone learn a lesson or two.
those who wanted achievement got it. those which wanted acceptance among peers, too got theirs. people got what they wanted, be it friends, love, job, power, money (ahh yes, people got that too, by hook or crook or by winning some big competitions) and for more philosophical guys like me, learning... yes .. i got my share of learning about the world and how it is designed and how it works and how to live ....
so, there is something everyone got from the college. the final acts just remind of that and wake you up to say, start loving it ... now its the time what you can do for the college .. so dont forget it .......
now then, we get to know the busy schedule ahead.... Monday is the usual day having 1 or 2 classes where arun 'maaroes' some senti to make a point.
Trying to make us remember the bond we share with teachers and more blah blah about respect and not to say bad about them (which is definately true, but being truthful has never and will never be wrong). This makes me think about the 'political correctness' and praising everyone and not saying true things despite you feel that (just for the sake of getting more promotions or more people start liking you or all the things) they call that being practical .. yes .. that is .. being true may not make you rise high but remind you that you never bent low for petty rises in life.... thats what a leader is supposed to do cause when the opportunity beckons, the true will jump higher than the sycophant followers....
anyways philosophy later, its more about the final countdown .. well wednesday comes and so does the final departmental farewell, which is a sweet suprize, with a sweet saying written specially for us on the blackboard (reminds of the school rite ). then teachers inviting us for a snack with them and casual discussion over the cup of tea.. ... then comes a classroom discussion with a beautiful message by the teachers about the 'start' of the new phase of life .... a career and really an optimistism injection which everyone would never forget ...
then comes the dinner at director's house, a special treat by the college (imagine a govt. college with all the bureaucracy all the four years to get a single rupee holding out a lavish dinner for the final yearites as a farewell gift.... something totally unexpected and something really sweet)
such acts of exuberance shows the love the authorities want to imbibe in us for the college and rightly so... they deserve it..
apart from the technical glitches, the poor interaction and a wide gap between the students and teachers, the college has helped everyone learn a lesson or two.
those who wanted achievement got it. those which wanted acceptance among peers, too got theirs. people got what they wanted, be it friends, love, job, power, money (ahh yes, people got that too, by hook or crook or by winning some big competitions) and for more philosophical guys like me, learning... yes .. i got my share of learning about the world and how it is designed and how it works and how to live ....
so, there is something everyone got from the college. the final acts just remind of that and wake you up to say, start loving it ... now its the time what you can do for the college .. so dont forget it .......

long time no see
its been a long time since i've blogged .. well the reasons are imminent ... college is finishing, its been a busy april with lots and lots of things and lack of sleep ruling.
Further, there's lot of entertainment going on with the political tamasha and the IPL giving the much needed daily dose of entertainment that the internet 'used' to offer.
Other not-so-obvious reason is that my internet limit is exceeded again, so i am on conservation mode. the daily day ends up with attending classes, ghoomoing, eating at select restros everyday, doing some work in college, coming late home, watchin ipl and late night phone thingy's (whenever applicable).
i guess till may 20 its gonna be diff. bloggin regularly, so .... till then alvida !

one, two unbuckle your shoe...
are you a journalist ?? A hindi one ?? the one which speaks speaks with regular pause of 700 ms between each word and with sound loudness greater than 60 db ? read on ....
if not, then read on.. (as if you'll agree with what i instruct)
Well, it all starts with west. since the (in)famous attempt at shoe-throwing on Mr. Bush, its caught up quite fast to be the the coolest fashion among the journalists. Chinese PM got it in UK but our developing india aint far behind the west. as elucidated in the past, India's great at adopting western bad habits quickly, as seen in first-hand by mr. chidambaram and naveen jindal.
First, wear old shoes from home. Then plan out the attack. it should be within the important parts of the speech of the victim, so that all the cameras are rolling, otherwise its an attempt gone in vain. Dont hurry, cause other journalists would miss the opportunity to interview but dont wait too much cause the person may be gone by the time your guts have come out. Having a seat near the right-centre is preferable (for right handers) because of ease in throwing action. dont be too angular too, cause it would give the nearby people time to stop. The MOST IMPORTANT thing is to be careful that the shoe does NOT hit the target because thats the trend brother ........... thats the hidden victoria's secret (what bullshit i write)
well, lets not go into the nitty-gritty discussing the obvious facts like things to gain by this- publicity, money (the sikh guy who threw at chidambaram got 2 lakh in cash from akali's) , opportunity to make a 'sansani-khez' story on jail behavior (remember you're a journalist) and immortalization and probably a reference in children's history books, too (if you're lucky). More importantly, its the fame your family gets. your mom is seen on the TV bragging about your good history and your wife seen supporting you (despite of the last night fight). Your job increments increase because they're afraid you'll join politics.
Another thing is the aftermath. Dont forget to give a dumb explanation for the act. some prior research may help. what else, dont forget the victoria's secret brother ..
and for the victims, dont forget to forgive the thrower cause that would help you show your kind heart. Btw, what else can you do ? u got humiliated in front of national TV. you want to cry like rakhi sawant and tell everyone that they'll have to pay for what they did ??? Am sure you wont want that..... would you ?
if not, then read on.. (as if you'll agree with what i instruct)

the week that wasnt
Last sunday it seemed the week was going to be the most uneventful one of the semester. 2 teachers out of station, friday being declared another holiday and nothing much to do before 2nd sessionals, it seemed the week would be a similar one where slumber rules the roost, when there are days u just laze around at home rather than going to college because there's nothing much to do there, too.
To my misfortune, these werent those days. I just got the shock of my life called as 31st march.
why ? its closing time, so all accounts need to be maintained. why me? by mistake i was involved in pecfest finance work and accountability of 5 peti worth money was to be submitted. the whole week was consumed with this stupid work while the chandigarh weather kept arousing the desires to be out exploring nature. with cloud cover, cool winds and drizzles, it seemed a perfect place for dating at lake. wasnt to be.... or was it?
and yes, drizzles bring in wet roads and wet roads bring accidents. so that too was on the cards since long... and the friday thingy ?? no holidays there. in fact, more labour for us because it was techfest time and we had to organise 2 events, so thursday, friday and saturday got fully drowned in bullshit techfest stuff.
However, this techfest was my first experience of our college's techfest (never participated in 1st, 2nd or 3rd year, as i loved using the holiday). am pretty happy about the whole thing. though at a pretty small scale, the techfest was funn. ya .. compared with pecfest where so many things lead to doing nothing, techfest offers lesser (both in quality and quantity) but all the while, more fun. its more participative, where u know everyone. people are happy rather than sad or busy. they take interest in small details. All the while, u flaunt your knowledge and ridicule the organisers because of lack of planning. its really comic, rather than big teams coming up in pecfest and crowd craving for professional performances. its more cool to see people know less and the simplest design is still the best. particularly, my happiness was more by seeing the submarine design competition where decent gathering still came (which i dint expect).
however, the 31st thing has completely gripped my life. now techfest bills need to be submitted before 31st. thankfully, i am not the finance head this time.

reply to the candid conservative
The previous post (if you are reading this, STOP HERE UNLESS YOUVE READ THE PREVIOUS POST) has been amusing, to say the least. though there is certain amount of conviction in what you say, but the curtain above your eye seems half-open. According to you, the problems of humanity are free-market, morality and modernisation.
free markets have always been an idea which is over-rated and over hyped, but makes most sense compared with others around. Soviet union had its own problems due to which it had to reject communism. coming back to capitalism is indeed a good idea, if there is adequate regulation in the capitalist market. thats what america learnt and thats what india has been preaching and DOING these past years.
coming to the main issue of modernisation and morality, i guess you are surely mislead somewhere in between. yes, the newer generation is better than you because it has the power to know, reason out and decide what is right or wrong. You say self destruction is caused due to lack of understanding while taking a decision, yes i agree in some cases. However, that has helped the younger generation to understand the newer complexities and modern issues to start re-inventing themselves and become more competitive, compared to their colleagues of different nations. the power of a society is determined by the new blood it generates and clearly the younger generation churned out is far more competitive and power-hungry than their ancestors which were satisfied by farming/doing petty clerical stuff.
next, moral issues you have talked about is just an effect, not a problem. the effect of the earlier frustrations dwelling in the minds of parents. every bubble bursts, every closure vents up and thats what has happened. the shackles of ill-beliefs in the name of culture are being broken by the youth and they are learning it their own way rather than being spoonfed by some orthodox religious fools (calling themselves as gurus, baba's and yogi's). they are more rational than their ancestors, which would go to length to pay ransom or give favours to those religious fools which were running their show by acquiring hoards of money and land assets.
further, you talk about aberrations of society and generalise that every person is becoming like that. the killing by a teenage person was surely one which got publicity, but in your 'bharat' such events were more frequent and have never recieved an ear. i can go at length to explain the falseness of your claims, but its just that i would reiterate that there is some conviction in your logic, but again, the curtain is just half-open.

confessions of a candid conservative
well, i managed to get an yearly diary of a conservative. am chronologically placing the facts i found interesting.
pre 1990's
Courtesans exist, are underground and illegal. Apart from this fact, i am pretty happy about the human relations and society. Cinema is not a bad thing, after all. (Though some movies showing women in jazzy clothes disgusts me.) The ills of society are the western thoughts coming in the minds of people which considers smoking and liquor is a part of life. For the west it is, being a cold place to live, but india is tropical. No requirement of alchohol for heat or cigar for the feeling of high. I dont think the movements will stand the cultural strength of india. Its ram-bhumi after all.
1990-1995
Education for all is an important thing. I believe its imperative for girls too to learn as much as they want to. (though i am confused what good is education to a woman who will marry a young boy and stay a housewife.. ahh yes. Women are great teachers for kids, too). they have proved alchohol and cigarette are both bad for health, so people may start avoiding it in due course. They say economy should be opened and foriegners be allowed. am really bamboozled by that. why did gandhiji remove foriegners in the first place ? had at that time they thought that foriegners are good for economy, india would not have been so great as it is today. the most proud thing india has is its culture, its people and unity. no foriegner should come and affect us again. SAY NO TO any foriegn material. swadesi banao, swadesi khao...
1995-1999
well, these years have seen an exponential increase in western clothing for youngsters. i dont understand how people wear things like jeans. i am disgusted after seeing kuch kuch hota hai and other adventurous movies. Cinema is bad. This concept of making friends between boys and girls is experimental, but not immoral. but clearly this movie has struck every rich kid to find a partner and have an affair. That someday will not lead to moral results, though. i hope the indian values are taught to these kids studying in private, metro colleges and stop experimenting with relationships in teenages. The hot topic of discussion in kitty-parties and social clubs are gossips of girls found walking with a boy or talking with them.
One thing thats good is, the flourish of newspapers and media, which is helping every individual to know, reason and decide.
2000-2005
as i had dreaded, there has been a flourish of rapes, acid-attacks and injustice to the women because of this 'westernisation' of the minds. news channels and media just reports these things everyday. insecurity is eroding more indian values as more and more women wish to support themselves with a partner who can take care of her needs as well as prevent other guy's eyes on her. Discos, too share a hand in degrading youngsters. The boy-girl 'affair' thingy has slowly accrued into middle class (from the richer people), into the other urban cities an schools, apart from metros, and most importantly, into younger brains. immature youngsters in their 13's and 14's have started actively wooing girls (which are more immature and just started with puberty). I am shocked about the advent of MMS and cheap availability of porn, which is degrading values faster than global warming. Fights over girls are common in middle and rich class people with power, though the hot topic for discussion between aunties is not which girl was seen roaming around in the market, but that which girl was seen coming out of a guy's bedroom.
The economy of our country is seemingly increasing, too. more people are becoming rich and choice is increasing. however, i sense a shift in jobs, rather than creation of it. the clerks and 'babus' haven given way to call-centre employees.
2005-2008
Our country is looking brighter in terms of quality of life and i guess globalisation has helped. opening up of the economy in 1991 wasnt a bad idea, after all. Cities have started with movement of no-smoking and ambumani ramadoss, deserves a mention because of his strict stand against smoking. education is as important as water, electricity because of the increased complexity of the business.
Just perturbs me is that great colleges have turned into sex markets (someone told me about the happenings in IIM's, IIT's etc. in which discipline and has given way to sleeping together on same beds, living-in relationships and more). School children have started shooting just like what happens in US. virginity of a girl is lost around 16 (just like britain, where the govt. has urged schools to prevent abortions). india is going the wrong way, yes, but there is no check (atleast western govt. are preventing future cases to happen) ... in the name of freedom, people are leading towards self-destruction. Further, the advent of youngsters in pubs has led to increased drug-addiction.
2009
Moral standards have been decimated. alchohol, drugs and cigarettes are the lifelines of the massive young generation india boasts of. Marriage is no longer required, nor any social bond between youngsters. The middle and rich class have become india, while the poor are still 'bharat'. Bharat still has a society where ladies discuss that this girl was seen walking with a guy, where people mock but in a way care for the society. India is a personal secretive place, where sex is just like money or power, a barter. Bharat still has brothers fighting with the girl's boyfriend to not come near her, but india has brother of the girl wooing the boyfriend's sister for a one-night-stand. marriages end in a week if the guy is unable to satisfy the girl (does anyone remember their parents which are bonded till date, despite all odds, despite differences, they still stand strong, and probably better).
The gurus of globalisation have failed and its proved that all this free market thing is a bull-shit. with western countries thinking of protectionism, indian dogs still wag about their tails waiting for Foriegn investors to come back and give them glory, just like a courtesan waits every night for her customer. if the 'goras' can learn from india, why cant india learn from itself ???? is it necessary india has to learn from the F'ing west ?? they've done so for 2 generations, but to no greatness, apart from freedom .. waht ?? freedom of doing what ?? wearing inadequate clothes ?? f'ing any random chick on the road ?? killing your classmate ? marrying twice and adopting to muslim religion ??
why cant the proponents of freedom abide some rules and live like his/her ancestors did ??
My latest worry now is that bharat doesnt think of becoming india.
Pyaasa still rules with "yeh duniya agar mil bhi jaaye to kya hai ??? " it would continue to do so !

friday, the 13th , a lucky day after alll !
well, my bed had enticed me today not to leave it at 8 o clock. With all the possible options of missing the finance class, i struggled against the desires of slumber and finally got ready (in an instant), Off to college. well, suprizingly 3 classes were held today, compared with the lack of teacher's interests to take up the classes since 2 weeks. rihani was at his murderous best, moving swiftly from one podium to the next.
Certain incidents like the infamous brawl of kansal and dhawan today deserve a special mention. it was a very intimate, romantic and hardcore action going on at the last bench where they were squeazing their muscles out trying to cause harm. anyways, dhawan stood the clear winner. (we even bet on that, alok put his 2 rs on kansal and had he won, he would have got 10 bucks back .. sadly, nothin of that sort happened). lol
Nag's class provided the much needed 'subway' break. aloo patty seemed okay, considering the descent of paneer tikkas down my tummy everyday... but just before that, the orange peel fight had began from the other portion of the class.both sides decked with armour, the players had their share of fun hitting out at sleeping or uninterested girls and people right on the faces.
next comes the arun class, (this blog is getting conventional with diff. para's for diff. teachers) its time for mexican waves in the class (now that what people aspire to do in class)..... until the teacher found out.. the torcherous period, where the motive was to make a person write to death.
anyways, college ended here for me here ... then comes the random trip to dharampur side, with school friends ... an unconventional one though, with the main character being a very sweet, but a little straightforwardly dumb friend(thats a bad word not intended in the bad sense, more rationally, it should be 'blonde'). It so happens sometime that the place you are touring becomes invisible but only the people you are with are important. Helps you enjoy a moment with yourself, without anything on the mind, no decision making, no nothing. Just you, yourself and your senses.
Now, then discussing from topics like recession to show off to people's sex life, it was a really stupid laughter riot, with lots and lots of bakwaas. Thankfully, i wasnt the target(as told, the sweet, little dumb friend got the honours). But anyways, what amazed me is that people were pretty hush-hush and curiously confused about my virginity.. now thats a separate issue, but anyways, how can there be any confusions regarding that ?? reminds me of the last year's ides of march.. oh . lets forget that, shall we?
yea, then its the time for alvida and coming back home. But eh, the day doesnt end here . does it ????? ya ya .. i have more to brag about the eventful day .... its night and at 11 i get a chance to watch 'gulaal', a take on the society, by maverick director, anurag kashyap. he was having a hard time sell his script since 2003, but i'd say its one hell of an engrossing, thoughtfully directed and heavy. not for the casual cinema-goers, but a breathtaking piece of work. Have not many words about it, but am equally sure people wont appreciate or like the movie .. so lets be diplomatic and say it's an okay movie, but personally, it was brilliant.
hey .. we missed something .. whats so lucky about it ?? well nothing really (apart from the fact its not unlucky, being friday and 13th together) but just seconds of comfort, peace, serenity and happiness. and yea .....today, a stupid and small yet fulfilling incident happened. it was a really sweet, respectful and caring voice ringing into my ears saying ... khholnaaa (well the word took an eternity to reach because of the respect in that tone ... ) .. ..
anyways, it went like ....
khholnaaa {long pause} apni khidki ... lots more 'blonde moments' and frolic followed, the coffee just seems sweet today ....
But eh, the day doesnt end here . does it ????? ya ya .. i have more to brag about the eventful day .... its night and at 11 i get a chance to watch 'gulaal', a take on the society, by maverick director, anurag kashyap. he was having a hard time sell his script since 2003, but i'd say its one hell of an engrossing, thoughtfully directed and heavy. not for the casual cinema-goers, but a breathtaking piece of work. academics in PEC-deemed university
"what is the goddamn benefit of this bloody grade point system? ", asked the lawyer i met today. he is fighting a case of my friend's termination from college. the question startled me a little. not because of the aggressive tone in which it came from an uninterested chap, but because i was caught up in the whirlpool of thoughts ....
the question of positives and negatives of a particular system were streaming from various neurons and the electro-chemical signals had staggered into a war. blankness numbed my brain and all i could mutter was there are positives as well as negatives. what you want to hear??
anyways, the case is simple. being a good friend, i have seen him closely since my 2nd year. he's not an ordinary person. i've seen him toiling for 22 hours at a stretch during exams studying and still getting a poor grade. its simple. he's a real hardworker. but some people cannot just grasp confusing concepts of physics or UME. whats his fault?? darsheel zafary of taare zameen par ?? not really, but, no harm in striking a resemblance.
anyways, now the college grading. a D grade fetches 4 credits then how is the academic rule at SGPA>4.5 or 5 justified? considering the law A+B=C+D, someone has to get a D, now in this case, there is an equal possibility that the not-so-popular and the not-so-sycophant people lose their grades in this subjective grade getting battle. its a common thing that better grades have been given to bootlickers and other stuff, but the average man is again at a loss.
the laws clearly suggest that even if the person passes all the subjects with D's he may get terminated from the college. this happens with my friend... is this justified on moral grounds ?
the other technicality that 6 years be given to the person to finish his degree is also not complied in his case. talk about the arbitrary nature of senate's decision to terminate him, i am amazed what teachers and educators may achieve my debarring a person from college. see his effort. see the amount of work he may put to get things done. see the hard work. no.. they'd prefer being rigid and trying to set an example (and everyone should understand this that no matter how much people try to set examples, things dont change by making disciplined actions for isolated cases)
i could just tell the judge that 'bloody' he passed in all the subjects with 21 credits, how can they terminate when clearly its written termination is only if the credits are 15 or less..... now why doesnt senate comply to it's rules ????
PS::: if any PECOBIAN reads this and supports his cause, please convince your friends so that the students can do something to change .. students have the power to do anything .. if and only if they want to ...

Rape in the final sem
being a hot topic to write, final sem has been a literal pain in the neck. it just seems harder than all semesters. 'nag' (now i'll use this as code name, cause someone told me whenever you type my honorable teacher's name, my blog comes up which i should avoid) is consistently giving us assignments to make in every class (for tues class its on RFID).
but the real rape which happened with us was in microwave. our thursday was just the usual assignment day. no one does the assignment on their own .... we just make the assignment in one of the earlier classes and submit it to the prof.. never does one know what are the questions or what are the answers .. its just rewriting whats written in the original (just like victorian days before photostats gave way to clerks).
EC is known for the failed attempts at mass-cuts. in every class, people stand up and go out of the class, trying to instill a notion of unity and confidence to perform a mass cut. same happened this time too ... never does the mass cut get executed.. just a normal thursday.. but the god's had contrived a different plan.
i collected the whole class's assignment and it seemed a neat bundle for the teacher to admire. the failed attempt to mass cut had happenned, too. now then sir comes in, takes the attendance. then we feel so happy to have completed the assignment that someone tells "sir, assignments..". the attention shifts to the bundle of ass. lying on the front seat and everyone is so happy to have submitted it.
sir starts asking who all has submitted the assignment and takes the attendance again. everyone is "yes sir, submitted". gurinder chips in, i have it in my room, i'll submit it at 12. the only one saying "no" is my fair lady, the college beauty, miss simran (hats off to her, going different from the crowd ). now then, he asks after the 2nd attendance, anyone who doesnt have assignment in the bundle ? no one makes any noise... (there's something in the air which is making me suspicious now..)
then comes the RAPE..... the next instant, we are told to sit less than 5 people on one bench. (acting fast, i scamper as fast as i can to sit behind dhawan, who had read microwave). he wrote 3 questions to do (2 from the assignment, and the best part was that we didnt even know the which 2 questions were in the assignment)anyways, he cleared that out. in our 4 years, never has such brutal treatment been seen.
as for me, (trying to be oversmart), i knew 1 answer and had copied a fair amount of the 2nd question when people sitting near me started snatching my pages and it ended him noticing me and telling the class that i'll average the marks you and your partners get.. from that moment, he never stopped staring at me (and i was cribbing in my mind while everyone must be copying).
After that, My pen was moving in the air, sheet empty and i was looking down the whole 35 minutes in despair.... neeraj, trying to outsmart, like me, ended up copying the answer 1 twice and then realizing he'd done a big error. till then, arun( the honorable teacher) had told to collect his and jaskirat(who had showed him the answer) separately .. to evaluate whether there was anything similar.
lol .. neeraj and me were caught in the microwave propagated RADAR of arun.... but in general it was a 1 hour cruel, forced, unexpected and brutal assault on our student life. RAPE.

the assignment orgy ....
ORGY:
2 DISAPPROVING an orgy of sth a period when there is too much of something, usually a bad or harmful activity:
well, this week has been a mixed bag of sorts .. with loads of assignments, projects (and other work of mine), its been a real pain in the neck.
now then, it's monday (where we submitted an assignment of implementing a radio simulator on MATLAB.. worked whole sunday for that .. and i guess the work was research-kind thingy )
monday has bought 4 more assignments to my notice. come tuesday, rihani and saha need pieces of paper (termed by them as assignments, but by a friend as ASS-in-MINT)to be kept in their rooms and let them rot all year (before they finally decide to earn some money by selling it @6-9 rupees per kg.).
wednesday is off (but u never know if a teacher decides giving assignment for that day, too)
thursday is arun day when we submit derivations of all the equations he wrote today in class. any utility of such clerk-work ?? i dont think so..
friday brings another saha ass-in-mint to the fore ... wow na ??
now, then the week's packed up .. one ORGY we have in pec ....
